Former South African captain Faf du Plessis has accused Australian players of ball-tampering in his book.

Faf du Plessis says in his book that Australian players were already suspected of involvement in ball-tampering, ball-tampering was known long before the Sandpaper Gate scandal.

Faf du Plessis says the South African team spied on the Australian fielders with binoculars.

The former South African captain revealed in his book that Australian fielders were spied on after ball-tampering was suspected.

It is further written in the book that ball-tampering was suspected from the first Test match of the Test series, Australian fast bowlers suddenly started reverse swing in the Durban Test.

Faf du Plessis has told in his book that Mitchell Starc took 9 wickets, I started calling him the master of reverse swing, and our bowlers also swung the balls but not even close to the Australian bowlers.

"We suspected that something was being done with the ball. In the second Test, we used binoculars. We started monitoring the ball with the binoculars to keep an eye on the Australian fielders," he added.

Faf du Plessis's book also says that we noted that the ball was going to David Warner a lot, then the telescoping was used more.

Faf du Plessis's book Faf Through Fire will be released on October 28.

What happened in 2018?

It should be remembered that on the third day of the third Test against South Africa, Australian batsman Cameron Bancroft was caught tampering with the ball on the field, after which he confessed to the crime during a press conference along with captain Steven Smith.

What action was taken against the Australian players?

Australia's retired captain Steven Smith and vice-captain David Warner were banned for one year by the Australian Cricket Board for ball-tampering, while Cameron Bancroft was banned for nine months.
