PML-N leaders Khawaja Salman Rafique and Hafiz Noman were arrested in a case of alleged torture of an army officer in Lahore, the capital of Punjab.
Lahore police said that Khawaja Salman Rafique and Hafiz Noman have also been named in the case, after which both were arrested on Thursday.
According to the FIR, at the behest of Khawaja Salman Rafique and Hafiz Noman, their bodyguards brutally tortured the army officer.
Earlier, Khawaja Salman Rafique had condemned the incident and said that "all citizens and institutions are respectable to him".
Talking to media outside Garden Town Lahore police station, he said,
"All citizens, including the said military officer, are respectable to us. We have to respect our institutions and courts."
"Those involved in Wednesday's incident have been brought to justice," he said.
"No one is above the law, there should be milk and water."
League nominee Hafiz Noman, who was nominated in the case, had explained that the staff vehicle was left behind which he did not know.
There is less to condemn than violence and lawlessness," he said.
It may be recalled that on Wednesday in Lahore, the bodyguards of Khawaja Salman Rafique and Hafiz Noman allegedly tortured an army officer whose video and photos went viral on social media.
Earlier, the Punjab police had announced that the Lahore police had arrested the four guards who had tortured the intelligence officer on Wednesday night and also seized the vehicle.
A police spokesman said: "A case has been registered against the guards and an investigation has been launched. No one is allowed to take the law into their own hands.
