According to police in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, a man opened fire on his family members and in-laws, killing at least five people and seriously injuring two others.

Lahore police said that a man named Abid first opened fire on his family members in the Shiraz Town area on Friday, after which he reached his in-laws' house in Green Town and also opened fire there.

According to the CCPO office, "Accused Abid is also addicted to ice drugs and this has been confirmed by his close relatives and neighbors."

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused Abid killed four members of his family while his father-in-law also opened fire, killing one person and injuring two others.

A Lahore police spokesman said the dead included the accused's father Ghulam Hussain, mother Asiya, sister Raheela, nephew Humayun, and aunt Shagufta. The accused's mother-in-law Rani Bibi and father-in-law Aslam were injured.
